GROWING NEW MEDIA AND PUBLISHING PRESENCE GIVES NATIONAL RADIO’S THOM HARTMANN EXPANDING GLOBAL AUDIENCE
- Companion Media Distribution Emerges To Extend Impact of Hartmann’s Air America Radio Program
- Receives New Publishing Awards
NEW YORK, NY (Oct. 1, 2007) – Already a formidable presence in the national talk radio world, THOM HARTMANN is now gaining global recognition for his impact in other media. In fact, the noted author and broadcast personality is extending the power of his Air America Radio network program with award-winning work in new media outlets, the internet and in publishing.
Airing on live Air America from Noon-3 PM/ET weekdays, THE THOM HARTMANN PROGRAM has greater live distribution than any other program in its format. The show replaced Al Franken’s program after he decided to run for US Senate from Minnesota.
Among a series of new honors, Hartmann’s book Screwed: The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class has just been announced as a silver winner in the 2007 Independent Publisher Book Awards in the current events category. The “IPPY” Awards recognize the year's best independently published titles and are intended to reward authors who exhibit “the courage, innovation, and creativity to bring about change in the world of publishing.”
This latest honor follows Hartmann’s fourth “Project Censored Award” recognition for his: “Repeal the Military Commissions Act and Restore the Most American Human Right.”
For now, these forays into publishing are the start to a series of new ventures for the New York Times best-selling author: “Reaching audiences, people…is a living and a changing process,” Hartmann observed, “and this new world of media provides very personal and direct opportunities to connect with people.”
Hartmann refers to the growth of personal media delivery systems like iTunes and what Google is talking about that allow audiences to demand content in a very topical manner, and he says this shift provides powerful new platforms to distribute personalized audio and print content in an economically viable manner.
“We are exploring the growing number of options that allow information and entertainment to be used by people.” Hartmann said.
“By removing the ‘docking’ ropes of traditional media distribution, audiences—readers and listeners alike, can define the direction of what popular media can offer,” Hartmann said. “This is already happening and the exciting part is that is a true companion service to traditional media, such as my Air America Radio program.”
“It is important to ‘extend the brand’ as package goods marketers say and that means there is an as yet untapped pool of opportunities for people with ideas,” Hartmann said
THE THOM HARTMANN PROGRAM is in its fifth year of national syndication and is carried coast to coast, including 7 of the nation's top 10 media markets and 14 of the top 25 markets, The show is available on XM and Sirius satellite radio and live Internet streaming on www.airamericaradio.com
Management services for THE THOM HARTMANN PROGRAM and his other media interests are provided by Ron Hartenbaum’s, WYD MEDIA MANAGEMENT, LLC.
